A Real Example
I thought I start my daily posts with my own example - How I became someone who is making good money with blogs and websites. It all started by coincidence, really. A friend of mine created a software which he wanted to supply freely and I decided to create a blog for that software. I added adsense to the site without really knowing what I was doing. The same day my website made it to the front page of digg.com which happened to send thousands of users to my site at that day.
The result was a steady flow of visitors from digg and other websites that wrote a story about my blog and the program. I made more than $80 the first day with google adsense. The income decreased in the coming days but I was so motivated by this coincidence that I decided to read and learn more about money making. I probably would have quit some weeks later if my site would not have made it to the homepage of digg.
Motivation is really crucial to keep going and improving. It took me six months to reach that figure again, to learn how to write interesting articles which would draw a crowd of regular readers to my blog and give me good keyword positions in the relevant search engines.
I was able to create different blogs and websites with the knowledge that I gathered from this process and would like to give another example, this time of a website which I created in about six hours which makes about $10 a day.
When the first stories of Nintendo Wii errors appeared on the net I decided to create a website called wiierror.com which would list all known errors and solution to help wii owners find solutions for their problems. It normally takes some time before a new website ranks high in search engines for keywords and I decided to speed up the process by submitting the website to news sites that would hopefully write about my site.
What can I say, I was featured on del.icio.us and digg.com again and my site got many visitors and good backlinks the first day it was created. It ranked high in most keywords that are relevant just a few days later and is one of the dominant sites in that sector.
It takes about 10 minutes per day to update the website and answer mails that are send, other than that there is no work involved at all. I personally like static websites because you do not have to put that much work into writing new content for them. I update my blog three times a day which takes between one and two hours sometimes even more.
Compare that to the 10 minutes for the static website.
I talk to many users on the internet and often hear phrases like “all the good sites already exist, if someone starts a new website he has no chance” and I wanted to just show by this example that this is not true. If you do have a good idea or are passionate about something you will be able to get your share.
